COX COOKIES & CAKE

PATRICK COX COOKIES AND CAKE

PATRICK COX COOKIES AND CAKE

PATRICK COX COOKIES AND CAKE

As the poster girl for the cabbage soup diet it came as something of a surprise to find out that if it were not for Liz Hurley, Patrick Cox’s glamorous new cookies and cake shop may have still been the stuff that (Hollywood techni-colour) dreams were made of. Liz introduced Patrick to renowned patissier Eric Lanlard and the two immediately hit it off.

A ten year dream for the renowned footwear designer, Patrick cites memories of Saturday mornings spent baking with his mum, Maureen, in his hometown in Canada, as inspiration. Many of Maureen’s special recipes feature on the menu at Cox Cookies and Cake, including her fabulous Nanaimo bars. Made from coconut chocolate biscuit with a layer of custard vanilla butter cream and coated in dark chocolate it’s a definite must-try for even cabbage-soup fanatics. Having a sweet tooth has never been so of-the-moment. Someone should inform Ms Hurley…

Cox Cookies & Cake opens from 1 September, 11am-11pm. 13 Brewer Street, London W1.

Moving on up

Cushions

Everyone hates moving, don’t they? Well unless you’re moving in to swish new office with views over Clerkenwell. Not that I’m bragging or anything, but the Fashion Confidential offices are being upgraded and we just can’t wait. In the excitement a few vital accessories have been purchased (they don’t only make the outfit you know) namely these faboosh cushions courtesy of Barbara Coupe. Complete with all the FC approved parts of town and a little royalism on the other thrown in for good measure, they will look just darling on the sofas during our Monday morning meeting.

Queen of Shoes

vivienne westwood shoes

I am a shoe girl, it cannot be denied and I also have a very SATC fantasy about getting hitched in Vivienne Westwood. So imagine my elation when I heard about Selfridges putting on a rather fabulous Vivienne Westwood shoe retrospective? Obviously, I headed straight down there. In a blacked out space brightly coloured court shoes and pirate boots glistened like diamonds. In true Westwood style there were some highly unusual footwear designs, for example the penis shoe along with  some absolute stunners, like the 10inch blue platforms Ms Naomi Campbell famously took a catwalk tumble in and some extravagantly orange ruffled creations made for a supermarket dash… or not. Apart from lusting after every pair of shoes at the exhibition I was reminded of why I love Dame Viv so much and taught a very important lesson: buy fabulous footwear, always. That’s all.
